June 4th Wear Red for Pentecost – On the first Pentecost, people from many parts of the ancient world gathered in Jerusalem and witnessed the amazing outpouring of God’s Spirit.  The festival of Pentecost is an occasion for celebration as the Season of Easter draws to a close.  The colour associated with Pentecost is red. It reminds us of the tongues of flame that appeared over the Apostles’ heads recorded in Acts 2:1-21.  On June 4th  everyone is encouraged to mark the occasion by wearing something red – a tie, sweater, scarf, etc. – or other fire-related colours such as bright orange and yellow.

The Tuesday Morning Ladies Group would like to thank all those who donated plants and books to the sale last weekend. The plants earned $900 and the books $475. Left over plants were gratefully accepted by Mission Thrift Store. Some leftover books were donated to the men’s and ladies homeless shelters.

A big thank you is extended to everyone who helped with the VBS Bake sale on Saturday, May 27th, by donating baked goods, purchasing baked goods, donating funds or helping to run the event. With your support, we raised over $250 for our VBS program. Thank you very much.

Camp Out VBS – registration is open!

Do you know someone in our congregation graduating from high school, college, university or other institutions, please contact the church office so that they can be recognized in the next issue of The Link.  Youth and Graduate Sunday will be celebrated June 25.

The Link – Do you have a poem, story, recipe or article you think would be of interest to others? Preparations are underway for the spring issue of The Link.  Please send submissions to the church office by this Sunday, June 4.

Please join us in the hall as we celebrate June birthdays.

Whether it be a milestone or not, we have reason to celebrate and thank God for his beautiful gift of life.  Of course we have cake but let’s not let cake be the focus, it is the people we wish to celebrate!
