Upcoming Events at SAPC:

•On Thursday, January 24th @ 6pm we will have our first                Praise & Pizza evening. It is an all invited, all welcome, time of worship and food in the church hall. Bring a friend!

 

• Youth Event: Snow Fort building – Sunday, January 27th at the church. Hot chocolate and snacks to follow.

• On February 26th a new Winter Bible study will begin. The subject will be the prophet Jonah. There is nothing to buy. All materials will be supplied. The study will begin on the 26th at 11am in the kitchen and run for 4 consecutive weeks (weather permitting). It will be a “whale of a time!”

World Day of Prayer Planning MeetingPlease note change in date to: Monday, January 28 at 10:00 am at Christ Church Parish Church. Women of all denominations of faith are encouraged to come help plan for the World Day of Prayer to be held on March 1 when we join with 170 Countries to pray for justice and peace.

Update from Mission Development & Social Action Committee:
• 15 tubs of cookie dough left. Pick some up today! Proceeds from this fundraiser go toward helping those in need of food and clothing.

• The Alkreiz family appreciated the Christmas gift of $240 from our refugee fund. Thank you to all those that continue to contribute to this fund. The next financial challenge for the family will be the cost of pursuing Canadian citizenship and the necessary additional language training.

This Candlelight service offers quiet music, thoughtful reflections, and a chance to light your own candle. Everyone is encouraged to come, rest, renew and relax for a time. A sincere thank you from the Mission Development and Social Action Committee to all who so generously brought gifts and vouchers for the two families supported through our angel tree and to Kathie and the junior choir for the children’s stocking stuffing with their gifts.  All have been delivered and the families are most thankful.

2018 Contributions – Donations to be included in the income tax receipt for 2018 must be received no later than December 31st or postmarked by that date. All donations in the offering plates on January 6, 2019 will be recorded in 2019.

Cookie Dough – Christmas baking made easy! There are 2 oatmeal raisin, 9 chocolate chip and 6 shortbread tubs left. Pick up a tub today for only $10/tub. All proceeds go toward helping those in need of food and clothing.

A Service of Comfort and Hope – Friday, December 21 at 7 p.m. at St. James Presbyterian Church.

The church office will be closed Dec 24th – Jan 2st.

Advent Season Bible Study – Join in around the gathering table in the kitchen on Tuesday morning at 11 am (Dec 18).

College and Career Dinner – Acadian Christmas dinner on Saturday, December 15th from 6:30 to 9:30 at Jordan and Candace’s place in Maugerville. We will be trying some special recipes from an Acadian cookbook. Drives can be arranged, and diets accommodated. Please let Jordan or Candace know if you are interested.

Youth Event – Mall Photo Scavenger hunt: Sunday, December 16th from 3:00 to 4:30 pm (please note time change). Meet at the Cineplex/Chapters entrance. Please let Jordan know if you plan to attend.

Church School Youth will be participating in worship on Sunday. This special service will be followed by our Annual Pot-Luck Lunch.

The Mission Tree is set up at the back of the Sanctuary. On the tree, you will find suggested gifts for the families that we are supporting this Advent season. Linking Lives Inc., a 100% volunteer non-profit group that seeks to alleviate poverty in the Fredericton area, has identified these two families whose Christmas will be memorable because of love expressed through Saint Andrew’s Mission Tree gifts. Cookie Dough sales have been slow and Christmas baking time is upon us, so this Sunday get your choice of ginger, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin or shortbread. Of the 72 tubs purchased, 38 remain. At $10/tub, you will not only get a bargain, but if all are sold, Saint Andrew’s will have a profit of $313 to go toward helping those in need of food and clothing.

Volunteering in 2019 – Saint Andrew’s is blessed with many volunteers. Please consider joining this dedicated group by adding your name to the volunteer roster for 2019. Opportunities include: Offering Counter, Offering Receiver, Greeter, Scripture Reader, Coffee Hour Host, Nursery Helper or Church School Teacher.
