General Assembly 2018 – The Presbytery of New Brunswick has been invited to send a Young Adult Representative (YAR) to the 2018 General Assembly at Wilfred Laurier University (Waterloo, ON), which will take place from June 3 – 6, 2018.  YARs are young adults between the ages of 16 and 25 who have been chosen by their presbytery to attend General Assembly.  Normally NB can send a YAR every three years.  This week the Presbytery of NB named Jacqueline Howie-Cleland as its YAR! This will be a great opportunity for Jacqueline to experience from within the workings of the Presbyterian Church from a broader perspective, participate in discussions, and even advise on some votes.  She will meet many people, learn more about God at work through the church in the world, and have some great stories to share on her return.

Search Committee Update:

  • The Search Committee will meet on Wednesday, Nov 29 at 6:30 p.m.
  • At the November 22 meeting of the Presbytery of NB, Presbytery affirmed the congregation of Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church’s readiness to begin a search for a Minister of Word and Sacrament.
  • The committee continues to work diligently to finalize the congregational profile, with the goal of having it completed and ready for distribution in mid-December.

(Rick McKinley, Chris Seay and Greg Holder) The book isn’t necessary to follow along; however, it can be purchased on Amazon for approximately $10-12 (Kindle and paperback). Overview:  Reflect on how you can make Christmas a more meaningful, transforming experience with themes such as substituting consumption with compassion through 4 different spiritual disciplines: worshiping more (Nov. 28), spending less (to free resources for things that truly matter) (Dec 5), giving more (of your presence, hands, words, time, heart) (Dec. 12), and loving all (Dec. 19).  Worship theme is separate from Small Group study.  Feel free to come to both or one or the other.  If you are interested in participating in the book study, email Rev. Wendy MacWilliams at wendymacwilliams@rogers.com
