Conversations on Renewal

Calvin, Presbyterian Church, 37 King St. (Chatham), Miramichi, NB.
Saturday, October 1, 2016.  10:00am – 3:00pm (lunch will be provided)

Leaders:
  • Jen de Combe, Life and Mission Agency, Presbyterian Church in Canada
  • John Gilbert, Presbytery of Grey Bruce Maitland
During the day, attendees will:
  • Listen for and identify places where God is active in the ministry across the presbytery
  • Discover models of renewal from across Canada
  • Learn how to maximize congregational and presbytery resources
  • Have fun exploring ways to revitalize ministry
  • Look at ways that presbytery can support the work of renewal

Grades 6 to 12 – Jordan and Candace will be away this Sunday, grades 6 to 12 are invited to stay for the communion service.

 Nativity Display – We are looking for three volunteers interested in helping to organize a nativity display here at the church.  Date to be determined, either December 2nd and 3rd or December 9th and 10th.  If you are interested, please contact Sheila Black.

Jr/Sr High School Board Game Games: Friday, October 14th from 6:30 to 8:30. Participants will rotate between many different board games in the church hall. Prizes for all, but the top scorer will earn the coveted golden duck.

Time of Corporate Prayer: All are welcome to come gather in the church hall on Sunday, Oct 23/16 at 7 pm for a time of praise and prayer.  A time to bring cares and concerns of the church and of the world before the Lord, seeking God’s guidance and direction. Any questions can be directed to Jane Murray

College and Career Dinner: Sunday, October 30th at Jordan and Candace’s place in Maugerville. Drives can be arranged and diets accommodated. Please let Jordan or Candace know if you are interested.

The Presbytery of Grey Bruce Maitland in rural Ontario recently went through a similar process and as part of the day October 1, John and Jen will share their experiences.

Registration is not required, but it is important that we know the approximate number of people coming so that we can prepare an appropriate lunch with minimal surplus and waste.

Jr/Sr High School Kickoff Event – Friday, September 23rd at Odell Park.

 Tuesday Morning Ladies Group meets in the kitchen every Tues at 9:30 to enjoy each other’s company along with a cup of coffee/tea, some lovely goodies and devotions. Please come and join us.

Fall Indoor Yard Sale – As you prepare for Fall and Winter, please set aside clothing and household goods for this upcoming fundraiser to be held Friday, Oct 28th 6-8pm and Saturday, Oct 29th 9am-12:00pm.

I Tromboni Concert – The “Team Canada of Trombones” will be presenting a concert for the whole family on Sunday, Sept 25, 6:30 pm at Brunswick Street Baptist Church. Freewill offering.  Refreshments to follow.

Double Celebration

We gathered twice on Sunday September 11 to celebrate with members of our Church Family. Following worship, we shared cake with those in the congregation born in the month of September, some of whom are pictured here.birthdays-2016-09

Later in the afternoon we joined with family and friends of Glen and Mary Hossack as they marked 50 years of marriage!hossack50

Of course, there was more cake.

Church Corn Boil – This Sunday, Sept 18th , join us following the worship service for our Annual Fellowship Corn Boil! Hot, fresh corn as well as beverages will be provided… you bring your favourite pot luck dishes and desserts.

Lady of the Lake Concert – with Maureen Batt, Soprano, Jon-Paul Decosse, Bass-Baritone and Simon Docking, Piano.  September 18th, 7:00 pm here at Saint Andrew’s. Concert will feature a new Canadian Song Cycle by Nova Scotia composer, Fiona Ryan, and Schubert’s Op. 52.  Both works are inspired by Sir Walter Scott’s poem “Lady of the Lake,” Admission at the door is $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for Seniors and Students.  Reception to follow in the Church Hall.  Please join us for an outstanding evening of musical entertainment.

Scouts / Girl Guides – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts meet Tuesday evenings. Sparks, Brownies and Guides meet on Wednesdays.

Terry Fox Run –  Sept. 18 at Queen’s Square. Registration at 12noon, with the first race starting at 1pm.  Silent Auction, for everyone to bid on, whether you’re participating in the races or not.
