Resurrection Eggs – Children’s Story

We may not be meeting together but we can certainly continue on with the Resurrection Eggs Story.  Today is EASTER and this is our last egg.  Look inside the white egg…IT’S EMPTY!!

Are you surprised?  When two women came to the tomb of Jesus, they were surprised.  The heavy stone was rolled aside, and the tomb was empty.  Jesus body was not there.  The angel told them, “He has risen”.  Jesus had come back to life.

This was the promise that Jesus had made to his disciples.  Someday, because he died for us, we can meet Him and thank Him in heaven.

Resurrection Egg – Children’s Story

We may not be meeting together but we can certainly continue on with the Resurrection Eggs Story.  This week we have….

In the dark pink egg…a stone.  The stone that was rolled in front of Jesus’ tomb was much larger than the stone in this egg.  It was as big as a door and probably weighed more than a car!

After Jesus was buried, soldiers were assigned to stand guard at the tomb.  But these men were no match for God’s angel!  It took just one angel to roll the stone away.  Where did the angel get it’s strength?  From GOD.

Dark purple egg
Inside we find a spear. Two robbers were crucified with Jesus, one on each side of him. When the soldiers checked on the three men, Jesus had already died. Just to make sure though, one of the soldiers stabbed Jesus in the side with a spear. It is sad to think Jesus died in such a cruel way. But remember Jesus gave up his life because of his love for ALL sinners, even the soldiers that stabbed him.

Light blue egg
In this egg we find a fine linen cloth. After Jesus died a brave and loving man, a man who believed that Jesus was the son of God asked if he could bury Jesus. He knew he might get in trouble but he was brave and asked permission to take Jesus body. He wrapped Jesus body in a fine linen cloth and placed the body in a cave cut out of a big stone rick. He went away sad, because Jesus was dead.

Resurrection Egg-Children’s Story

Light orange Resurrection Egg– after Jesus had been whipped the soldiers took branches with thorns, twisted them into the shape of a crown, and shoved it down on Jesus’ head. Again Jesus bled. We know that because Jesus was the son of God he could have stopped the men from hurting him. But he let them continue. Do you know why? Because even though he hadn’t done anything wrong, Jesus was taking the punishment for all the wrong things that any person would ever do.

Light Green Resurrection Egg– these nails remind us that Jesus can take sad and terrible events and turn them around for good. The soldiers took Jesus to the top of a hill outside the city. Then they nailed him to a cross. There He died a few hours later. Jesus was stronger than any man. The soldiers couldn’t have killed Jesus if he had not let them. Because God loves people so much he was willing to let Jesus be punished for our sins and Jesus was willing to do what God the father asked.

Resurrection Egg – Children’s Story

We may not be meeting together but we can certainly continue on with our story in the Resurrection Eggs.  This week we have……

Dark Green Resurrection Egg.

I wonder why we have a whip in one of the resurrection eggs. While Jesus was praying in the garden the people who wanted to kill him took him as their prisoner. Jesus hadn’t done anything wrong but the people who wanted to kill him were afraid of losing power. Jesus was whipped and it hurt him so much that he bled.

Yellow Resurrection Egg.

You would wonder what a rooster has to do with the Easter story. Peter was one of Jesus closest friends. He promised that no matter how dangerous it got he would always stand by Jesus. But Jesus knew that sometimes, when we are afraid or we realize we might be in danger ourselves that we forget to keep our promises. Jesus was sad to know, that before morning came and the rooster crowed, Peter would say he didn’t even know Jesus. This made Jesus and Peter very sad. And Peter was very sorry for not standing by Jesus.
